As late stage capitalism continues to crumble and the empire doubles down on their genocidal domination of resources, it is more important than ever to nourish the webs of connection that will hold us through it all.

In 2023 we opened the mystery gate and presented an invitational call for new “FRIENDS.” Fellowship in Radical Interdependent Exchange using Non-Dominant Systems. We knew we wanted to host residencies for other folks who were practicing or dreaming of queer-family-making, mutual aid, collective healing, finance-sharing, movement arts, etc. and we knew we wanted to offer these residencies outside of normative money-based exchange.

The results were beyond any understanding of success. How can we measure the expanding of our hearts? The feeling of being less alone in the midst of these intersecting apocalypses? The sense of fruition and dreams coming true? And most of all, in the juicy fruit of our intentions, feeling the potency of giving and receiving outside of dominant exchange discourse. Woosh.

So, it is with great trust in the continuation of abounding pleasure through connection that we continue to steward the FRIENDS portal. Typically between the months of May and September, we offer three different sessions with two options for housing each. One is a 16ft diameter canvas bell tent, with a queen size bed and electricity. It’s located very near our fully stocked outdoor kitchen, shitter, and shower. The other is a studio cabin, with its own private bathroom, kitchenette, and queen-size bed. We discuss meal-sharing and access needs with each person in the process of co-determining if there is present resonance and a feeling of alignment to come together in this way at this time. 

Sometimes work-trade, sometimes a creative residency, sometimes a healing hiatus from the dominant paradigm, often a little bit of each and more, Ten of cups farm is looking to strengthen and expand our Queer devotional network through this fellowship program. There is no monetary exchange for this offering and no two residencies will be alike. A common thread will be in the exploration of humane anticapitalist interdependent work and care systems. Structured spiritual / creative presence, witnessing and guidance is offered to any applicant who wishes to include that in their residency.
